The initial backup always takes the longest, it can vary greatly depending on the volume of data being backed up and your upload speeds.
Once the first full backup is complete, your local data is compared with the data on our servers and only files that have been added or changed since the last backup are uploaded, this saves time and bandwidth.
Most accounts back up in under 5 minutes once the initial backup is completed.

You may back up as many PC's as you like on a single account at no additional charge. Your account is limited by the amount of storage only
How Secure Are online Backups?

First Your Data is compressed, then encrypted using your choice of three different encryption algorithms AET, DES or Twofish with an encryption key that you choose and is stored on your PC only. Without this key your data is completely unreadable.

Do not lose this key , Without this key you will not be able to read or recover your back-up files.
WE DO NOT HAVE A COPY OF THIS KEY
. We reccommend keeping a paper copy of this key in a safety deposit box or a fire-safe.
Data is Transfered Using Secure 128-bit SSL
All files are transferred between PC-Backups Offsite Backup Server, Your Computer and PC-Backups Replication Server are transported using 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) . This makes it impossible for your data to intercepted during transfer.
Restrict access to data by IP addresses
Optionally access to your backup files can be restricted to IP addresse(s) you define. Access will be denied to any IP addresses not in the list.
What do you mean by "Compressed Data Storage"?
What do you mean by "Compressed Data Storage"?
Data is compressed on your local machine before it is uploaded to PC-Backups Server, The compression ration varies depending on the type of files, Pictures , Music and Video files are allready compressed so they will not benifit from this technology as much as text or database files.
Typically you can compress about 1.25 to 1.5 GB down to 1 GB

How do I know which backup package I need?
The amount of space needed on the server varies depending on the type of files you are backing up , how much data you have the "Retention Policy" time ( The amount of time to keep deleted files on the backup server default is 7 days ) and the "Delta Ratio" ( The amount of space to use between full backups ).
Using PC-Backups OBM default settings on a typical computer you should be able to 650 to 800 MB with the 1GB Package.
The Free 30 day trial is a good time to check this out. The default trial account is 25 GB if you need more space turn in a support ticket or send an email to support@pc-backups.com and let us know how much space you need.

For the not so technical, PC Backups OBM works well with the default settings. Simply use the wizzard to create a backup set and you are ready to go !
